At the 2016 Alternative Press Music Awards, in this episode of Buzzin' before the ceremony, the Recording Academy's Marc Mutnansky interviewed metalcore band Issues. At the 2015 APMAs they were awarded Artist Of The Year and they went on, after Buzzin', to Skyler Acord's 2016 APMA win for Best Bassist. Their second album Headspace had come out a month earlier, peaking at No. 20 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Their self-titled first album peaked at No. 9 in 2014. Having proved themselves with the first, which was more down-the-middle metalcore, they allowed influences and ideas to take them further afield on their follow-up, to the delight of many fans. The band told us complicated songs that took work were likeliest to make it onto their album, All of them try to write all the time and new songs can start from anything.
