EDM artist, songwriter and producer Ryan Raddon aka Kaskade has helped define what it means to be one of the world's top DJs. Billboard Senior Dance/Electronic Editor Matt Medved interviewed him for this Atlanta Chapter and Producers & Engineers Wing's Up Close & Personal event, reviewing his many GRAMMY-nominated hits and his next-day September release Automatic. After discussing his enthusiasm for ProTools and new gear, he shared a story about stem mastering. "It was his ears that I really was paying for," he said about the mastering engineer who did his work "in the box" on the computer using Ableton. Because so much of the art of electronic music is sound design, Kaskade said, "The sound is so important, mastering is almost part of the art of what's happening."
