At the 1st Annual Guild Of Music Supervisors State Of Music In Media Conference held on Sept. 19, 2015, Gabe Hilfer and Season Kent sat for this interview with Guild Secretary Jonathan McHugh. One topic was the event's first-ever panel "Connecting The Dots: The Music Media Process" which Hilfer and Kent participated in and learned things they hadn't known about fellow professionals they've worked with for years. Hilfer and Kent first worked together as music supervisors on the movie End Of Watch. Their subsequent work together included the film Fury and the television show "Tyrant," and at the time they were working on the show "Supergirl" and the movie Suicide Squad. Looking back on her time as an intern, Kent brought up another panelist's remark about "making yourself indispensable." Describing her first volunteer opportunity with a real mentor, she said, "I worked really hard to make sure they needed me." The three agreed that process of proving your value never actually ends, which is part of why Music Supervisors occupy an increasingly visible role in the business.
