In this episode of the Recording Academy's Buzzin' interview series, host DJ Moonbaby caught up with GRAMMY winning rapper Common. The two discussed his desire to "speak the truth to the young black youth" and for "bettering the world," in early summer 2016 at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. Common also said Nas' Illmatic was the album that influenced him the most, because of its elevated lyrics. Speaking of his project in the works by the title of its song "A Bigger Picture Called Free," produced by Robert Glasper, the album Black America Again was released in Nov. 2016. It's final track, "A Letter To The Free" was featured in Ava DuVernay's documentary 13th, giving Common an EMMY Award win the following year.
