ASAP Ferg Tells Stories Of His Album Titles And His Growth
ASAP Ferg from ASAP Mob spoke with Chicago Chapter at Lollapalooza 2016, accompanied by artist Marty Baller working as hype man on his tour. Speaking about his albums, 2013's Trap Lord came from a nickname for ASAP Ferg because of his relentless hustle. 2016's Always Strive And Prosper told of his "trials and tribulations" in the way he always wanted to tell his story. He believes the positive vibe comes through on his songs "Beautiful People" and "Yammy Gang," he remembers coming up with the beat for "New Level" while driving around Toronto feeling like he was on one, and working with Missy Elliott on "Strive" was a special experience because her work had been such a big influence in his life. "I made a decision that if my fans aren't ready to grow, I have to just throw it out there," ASAP Ferg said, "because I have to let them know the state of mind that I'm in so that they can grow with me."
