Ahead of her appearance on "CMT Crossroads" with Katy Perry on June 13, GRAMMY-winning country singer/songwriter Kacey Musgraves recently performed at The Recording Academy Nashville Chapter GRAMMY Block Party, which also featured performances by Brandy Clark, Martina McBride and Chris Young, among others. Following her set, Musgraves participated in an exclusive GRAMMY.com interview, discussing how her summer tour stops with Alison Krauss, Willie Nelson and Katy Perry reflect her musical tastes, and what she's doing to prepare for her next album, among other topics.

"I'm kind of focusing on what's ahead of me right now," said Musgraves. "[I'm] writing here and there, trying to keep some creative ideas going and in the fall I'll go back in the studio and start making another record."

Raised in East Texas, Musgraves began singing in elementary school before releasing three independent albums as a teenager. In 2007 she competed in season five of the reality singing competition series "Nashville Star," emerging as a Top 10 finalist. Musgraves subsequently co-wrote songs for artists such as McBride and Miranda Lambert before inking a deal with Mercury Records Nashville in 2012.

Her major label debut, 2013's Same Trailer Different Park, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The 12-track set earned two GRAMMYs for Best Country Album and Best Country Song for "Merry Go 'Round" (with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne) at the 56th GRAMMY Awards on Jan. 26. Musgraves also garnered a nomination for Best New Artist and a second nod in the Best Country Song category for co-writing Lambert's hit "Mama's Broken Heart" (with Clark and McAnally).

Musgraves will wrap a U.S. tour with Nelson and Krauss on June 21 before kicking off her own European tour on June 27 in Manchester, England, with dates scheduled through July. On Aug.10 Musgraves will join Perry on her Prismatic World Tour, with dates scheduled through September.
