R&B/soul singer/songwriter Allen Stone recently performed a cover of Seal's GRAMMY-winning "Kiss From A Rose" for an installment of The Recording Academy's ReImagined series. Linking GRAMMY history with the present, ReImagined is a performance-based series featuring artists interpreting an iconic GRAMMY-winning song, an interview and performances of original music.

"Kiss From A Rose" earned Seal three GRAMMY Awards for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and Record and Song Of The Year in 1995. The song is featured on Seal's 1994 self-titled sophomore album. Filmed at the Andaz West Hollywood in West Hollywood, Calif., Stone also performed two original songs, "Contact High" and "Satisfaction."

"I [first] heard 'Kiss From A Rose' when I was in seventh grade at a school dance," said Stone. "I remember it [being] that one time where I totally scored the cute girl to come and dance with me. I remember the chorus hitting and just feeling like ecstasy — you know how songs can do that to you. There's kind of a soft spot in my heart for that song."

A native of Chewelah, Wash., Stone began singing as a child at his father's church. Following his high school graduation, Stone moved to Seattle to hone his craft on the local music circuit. Inspired by artists such as Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, the Meters, and Stevie Wonder, his music combines classic retro soul elements with pop, R&B and folk sensibilities. A multi-instrumentalist, Stone plays guitar, bass and piano.

In 2009 Stone independently released his debut album, Last To Speak, which features 11 songs written by Stone. Released independently in October 2011, his self-titled sophomore album features collaborations with producer Lior Goldenberg (Sheryl Crow, Macy Gray, Ziggy Marley) and singer/songwriter Andy Grammer. The album peaked at No. 9 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. A video for the album's final track, "Unaware," was filmed in his mother's living room. Stone has performed on TV programs such as "Conan," "Last Call With Carson Daly" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Stone is currently on tour with select U.S. dates scheduled through September.
