The Recording Academy Texas Chapter recently played host for GRAMMYs On The Road at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, held Oct. 12–14 at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. The Chapter conducted exclusive backstage interviews with artists performing at the festival, including folk singer/songwriter Lera Lynn and six-piece rock/folk band Quiet Corral.

Lynn discussed the Austin music scene, what motivates her as an artist and creative mentors, among other topics.

"I have a compulsive passion for music," said Lynn. "It's not really something that you choose to do, it just sort of chooses you. It's like there's some sort of divine force pushing me along."

A native of Athens, Ga., Lynn released her debut solo album, Have You Met Lera Lynn?, in 2011. Co-produced by Lynn and C.K. Koch, the album features 10 songs, including "Bobby, Baby," a song that earned Lynn top honors at the 2011 Chris Austin Songwriting Competition. That same year, she won Best Americana Artist at the Flagpole Athens Music Awards. In 2012 Lynn released a two-song EP containing a cover of Johnny Cash's "Ring Of Fire" and an original composition, "Don't Make Me Wait." Lynn is currently touring the United States, with select dates scheduled through January.

Quiet Corral discussed progress on their new album, negotiating creative differences and performing at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, among other topics.

"We've got about 14 songs that we've recorded over the past year. We're really excited about all of them," said Jim Barnes. "Hopefully it will be out later this year or early next year."

Founded in 2010, Quiet Corral are a six-piece rock/folk collective consisting of Barnes, Garrett Childers, Isaac Flynn, Matt Green, Jesse Braswell Roberts, and Zach Mehl. The group's sound mixes four-part harmonies with electric and acoustic guitars. In 2010 Quiet Corral released a seven-song self-titled EP, which was engineered and mixed by Barnes. In January, the group released the single "City Steep." Quiet Corral are currently working on their full-length debut album and have select U.S. tour dates scheduled through November.
