GRAMMY-nominated producer Alex Da Kid recently visited The Recording Academy's headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif., to participate in an exclusive GRAMMY.com interview. Alex Da Kid discussed his role as a producer, collaborating with GRAMMY winners such as Rihanna and Eminem, his favorite studio gear, and what inspires his sound, among other topics.

"My inspiration comes from life," said Alex Da Kid. "I could be watching a reality TV show — like completely mindless TV — and I will just get an inspirational idea for a song, or a lyric, song title or guitar lick."

Since signing a publishing deal with Universal Music Group in 2009, London native Alex Da Kid (born Alexander Grant) has collaborated with artists such as B.o.B, Skylar Grey, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Paramore's Hayley Williams, among others. He produced Eminem's "Love The Way You Lie," featuring Rihanna, which garnered four GRAMMY nominations at the 53rd GRAMMY Awards in 2010, including Song and Record Of The Year. In 2011 Alex Da Kid garnered an Album Of The Year nomination for co-producing Rihanna's Loud. That same year he earned a nomination for Best Rap Song with Dr. Dre, Eminem and Grey for "I Need A Doctor."

In 2011 Alex Da Kid finalized a deal with record executive Jimmy Iovine, bringing his label imprint, KIDinaKORNER, under the Interscope Records umbrella. Grey was the first act signed to KIDinaKORNER, which now includes additional artists such as Jamie N Commons and Imagine Dragons on its roster. Alex Da Kid executive produced Imagine Dragon's 2012 debut album, Night Visions, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. He also produced Jamie N Commons' Rumble And Sway EP, which was released in March and peaked at No. 21 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart.
