On Aug. 11 singer/songwriter Christina Perri was the featured guest for The Recording Academy's 5 Questions With … series during an installment of the GRAMMY Foundation's GRAMMY Camp — SoundCheck program. Held at the Troubador in West Hollywood, Calif., Perri discussed music education, the influence of social media on her career, advice for aspiring musicians, and her debut album, lovestrong., among other topics. During the program, Perri performed a brief set, including tracks from her debut album.

"Love strong is a thing I aspire to be," said Perri. "The album is just everything that I am, and I'm so honored to have [an album]."

A Philadelphia native and the sister of Shinedown guitarist Nick Perri, Christina Perri relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. She began posting videos on YouTube featuring performances of cover songs as well as original material, attracting the interest of Bill Silva Management. In 2010 Perri was connected with a choreographer from the dance competition TV show "So You Think You Can Dance," and that summer performed her piano ballad "Jar Of Hearts" on an episode, leading to the official independent release of the single. The single garnered more than 100,000 downloads during its first two weeks of release, and peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. The performance led to a record deal with Atlantic Records and in May Perri released lovestrong., produced by GRAMMY winner Joe Chiccarelli. The album peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and "Jar Of Hearts" was featured on an episode of "Glee." Perri recently completed a headlining tour across the United States.
