X Japan's Yoshiki Donates $100,000 To MusiCares Hurricane Relief
After screening the award-winning documentary We Are X in New York City on Oct. 9, X Japan's Yoshiki met with Recording Academy New York Chapter and MusiCares staff to deliver a hurricane relief donation of $100,000 on behalf of Yoshiki Foundation America, his 501 (c)(3) nonprofit foundation.
"I'm from Japan but I live in America," Yoshiki said. "When Japan got hit by the Tsunami Earthquake in 2011, the people of America supported Japan. I was really moved by that, so I'd like to keep supporting America as much as I can. My heart goes out to all those who are affected."
The donation will go directly toward MusiCares' hurricane relief efforts, which covers basic living expenses medical expenses, clothing, instrument and recording equipment replacement, relocation costs, home repairs, debris removal, and more.
