In addition to the aforementioned, genre-diverse musicians who will perform covers from Parton's extensive catalog, the living legend herself will close out the evening with a special performance as well. GRAMMY-nominated musician Greg Phillinganes will serve as the musical director for the event. Also, more performers will be announced in the coming weeks. Special guests in attendance will include Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the Recording Academy and MusiCares, Michael McDonald, Chair of MusiCares, Alexandra Patsavas, Chair Emeritus of MusiCares and John Branca, Honorary Chair of MusiCares.
Parton shared her elation about the honor and the event, saying, "I am so excited and humbled to be honored as MusiCares Person of the Year. It's even more special knowing the gala benefits music people in need. I can't wait to hear all of the great artists singing my music."
Parton is the first artist from the Nashville community to be named MusiCares Person of the Year. She is being honored for her incredible creative achievements and contributions to the music world as well as her long-term support of many charitable organizations and causes, including the Imagination Library, which she founded in 1995 to support childhood literacy. The star also currently has eight GRAMMY Awards, two songs in the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame, "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You," and received the Recording Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.
"And I hope life treats you kind, and I just hope you’ll have all that you ever dreamed of. And I wish you joy and happiness, but above all of this I wish you love.” (@LyricFind)

The proceeds from MusiCares annual Person of the Year gala, for which 2019 will be its 29th year, go directly to the charitable organization to continue their much needed work "which ensures music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need." In addition to the many exciting performances, the evening will include a reception, luxury auction, dinner, and awards presentation.
