Mr. Bungle Drop First New Recording In 21 Years With Cover Of The Exploited's "USA" To Benefit MusiCares
The experimental thrash supergroup, whose current lineup features original members Trevor Dunn, Mike Patton and Trey Spruance plus Scott Ian (Anthrax, S.O.D) and Dave Lombardo (Dead Cross, ex-Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies), triumphantly return with their blistering rendition of the protest anthem.
The band has also released a limited edition t-shirt, also pledging 100 percent of the proceeds to the MusiCares COVID-19 Releif Fund to help music creators and professionals affected by the Coronavirus crisis. Thanks to support from various artists, organizations and charites, the fund has raised millions so far, but much more is needed.
Although a release date has not yet been set, Mr. Bungle also recently finished re-recording their originally cassette-only eight-song demo. As Dunn told Revolver: “The music from The Raging Wrath, which we wrote when we were 15 and 17 years old, continued to be relevant to us. But the original demo was never fully realized. It was a DIY four-track tape recording fully self-produced by our naive and wandering minds whilst still learning how to play our instruments and understand songwriting at its most basic level… for us, going back to the roots is totally exciting.”
