Charming Liars' Elton John cover to benefit MusiCares
Charming Liars donate Elton John cover proceeds to MusiCares
Los Angeles-based group Charming Liars — comprising members Mike Kruger, Kiliyan Maguire and Karnig Manoukian — have revealed a philanthropic twist for their latest single, a cover of GRAMMY winner Elton John's "I'm Still Standing."
The band, which originated in London, will donate a portion of the proceeds from "I'm Still Standing" to The Recording Academy-affiliated charity MusiCares, which provides services and resources that cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies for music people in need.
John, who was honored as the MusiCares Person of the Year in 2000, originally released the song as a single/video from his 1983 studio album, Too Low For Zero It hit No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.
"We're also very privileged to be joining forces with MusiCares of the Recording Academy/GRAMMYs to donate half the proceeds to their great cause," the band wrote on Facebook. "Love, listen and share!"
