Washington, D.C. Dental Clinic
Due to high demand, a second free dental clinic will be held in New York on June 23 with support from the American Federation of Musicians, Local 802. The clinic will be held in the union's first-floor club room where Smiles Programs… The Mobile Dentists of New York will provide a comprehensive dental exam, teeth cleaning and X-rays to pre-registered New York-area musicians, singers and other music professionals at no charge. Attendees do not have to be union members or members of The Recording Academy, but must call MusiCares at 212.245.7840 or toll-free at 877.303.6962 to pre-register and verify eligibility.
On July 28 MusiCares, in conjunction with the Detroit Federation of Musicians and AFM local unions in Ann Arbor, Mich., Flint, Mich., Pontiac, Mich., and Toledo, Ohio, will sponsor a free dental clinic for southwest Michigan and northwestern Ohio music professionals at the historic Michigan Theater. All eligible music professionals will receive a complete dental exam, bitewing X-rays and a dental cleaning free of charge. All appointments must be scheduled in advance. Seattle-based rock band the People Now will host an all-ages benefit show for MusiCares on Aug. 20 at Showbox at the Market in Seattle. The performance lineup will feature Nine50Nine, an incarnation of several Seattle-based music alumni including Cameron Brownfield, Dave Krusen (formerly of Pearl Jam), Alan Hunt, and Ty Willman (formerly of Green Apple Quick Step), among others. In advance of the nationwide screenings of God Bless Ozzy Osbourne, on Aug. 22 producer/filmmaker Jack Osbourne and Eagle Rock Entertainment will host a special private preview of the documentary benefitting the MusiCares MAP Fund at the ArcLight Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, Calif.
