Being physically fit is key to a long, pain-free performance career.  Local 802, the union's Membership Assistance Program (IMAP), The Actors Fund and MusiCares are offering a free, weekly class to help raise fitness levels and lessen the physical  toll of stress on the body.

Whether you stand or sit to perform, your body takes a beating over  time. Do you experience a chronically sore back, "stuck" shoulders, a stiff neck or maybe shooting pains running down a leg? These are among the most common complaints of hard working musicians. These types of conditions tend to get worse unless you take action. Don’t wait!  Join us to get a stronger body, week-by-week. You'll start  feeling the benefits from the first class.

RSVP via e-mail to Siena Shundi. There are a limited number of spots available, so sign up now!

MusiCares is proud to once again be a part of this year’s Sasquatch!  2014 marks the seventh consecutive year of MusiCares’ presence backstage at the festival providing information on services available to music professionals, as well as hosting a Safe Harbor Room for sober musicians and crew members in recovery. In addition to hosting daily 12-step meetings, the Safe Harbor Room serves as a backstage refuge open to anyone in need of a supportive environment free of drugs and alcohol.

MusiCares also works to address the medical needs of music professionals. In support of those efforts MusiCares staff will be joined by an M.D. who will be available for medical consultations during the festival.

And that’s not all… free on-site hearing tests for artists and crew will also be offered! A mobile testing unit staffed by certified technicians from Washington Audiology will be open backstage during select hours throughout the festival providing comprehensive screenings. Staff will also be providing molds for custom musician earplugs! Visit MusiCares staff backstage, or call 1.800.687.4227, for more info.
