In conjunction with MusiCares MAP Fund benefit honoring Betty Ford, MusiCares will host a panel discussion on the issue of addiction, recovery and relapse as it relates to women, and more specifically women in the music industry, on May 5 at The Recording Academy headquarters.

The disease of addiction is a serious health concern affecting more than 12 million women annually. Substance abuse in women is multifaceted, often leading to violence, sexual abuse, risky sexual behavior, unwanted pregnancy, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and a myriad of other complicated conditions. Women with substance use disorders have more diverse treatment needs than men. Moreover, women who are dependent on substances experience different barriers to treatment entry, engagement and retention than their male counterparts.

Please join us for this panel discussion featuring expert advice and insight from recovery professionals and women in the music industry who have successfully maintained their sobriety. To RSVP, call Brett Bryngelson at 310.581.8734 or e-mail brettb@grammy.com.
