Eligible patients will receive a complete dental exam, bitewing X-rays and a dental cleaning free of charge. To qualify participants must document at least five years of professional music industry experience. All appointments must be scheduled in advance. MusiCares, Smile Programs … the mobile dentists and the American Federation of Musicians New Orleans Local 174-496 are partnering to provide a dental clinic offering dental screenings, teeth cleaning, and X-rays to uninsured music professionals in need. These treatments will be provided free of charge to pre-screened, pre-approved applicants on a first-come first-served basis. Those wishing to take advantage of this service must be able to provide documentation of their work in the music industry for at least five years. If professional music industry experience is less than five years, eligibility can also be determined through credited contribution to at least six commercially released recordings or videos (singles).

MusiCares invites you to What's Really Going On? Challenges In Treatment & Recovery, an informative presentation and discussion on the increasing prevalence of medical marijuana, prescription drug and over-the-counter synthetics usage as it relates to addiction treatment and recovery. Each of these substances presents their own unique yet similar challenges that can complicate the recovery process. Presented by Roland Williams, MA, LAADC, NCACII, CADCII, SAP, the presentation promises to offer valuable information and lively discussion while attempting to identify what constitutes true recovery.   • Develop an increased understanding about the impact medical marijuana has had on the recovery community and treatment providers
  • Identify the most commonly abused synthetic drugs and their effects on the user
  • Learn specific techniques for dealing with addictive prescription medications
  • Develop strategies that people in recovering and treatment providers can utilize when faced with challenges associated with these types of drugs

Williams is a highly regarded interventionist, author, trainer, counselor, and consultant specializing in addiction related issues. He is one of the first Licensed Advanced Addictions Counselors in the state of California, as well as a motivational speaker who conducts seminars, workshops, keynote presentations, in addition to staff training, skills building and program development worldwide.
