MusiCares and Nuci's Space are partnering to provide a dental clinic offering dental screenings, teeth cleaning and X-rays to uninsured music professionals in need. Treatments will be provided free of charge to pre-screened, pre-approved applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. Those wishing to take advantage of this service must be able to provide documentation of their work in the music industry for at least five years. If professional music industry experience is less than five years, eligibility can also be determined through credited contribution to at least six commercially released recordings or videos (singles).

In celebration of World Voice Day 2013 MusiCares will present a free one-of-a-kind workshop for voice professionals in Southern California. Come prepared to learn about the inner-workings of your voice, plus discover what you can do to not only protect your instrument, but to realize its potential.

Topics will include:

The Anatomy Of The Singing Voice & When Vocal Injuries Occur: Prevention And Treatment presented by Dr. Reena Gupta, MD FACS, director, Voice and Swallowing Center, Osborne Head &Neck Institute

Pilates2Voice: Demystifying The Voice-Core Connection presented by Dr. Veera Asher, DMA, Pilates2Voice

Dress casual, or in comfortable exercise gear, because this workshop will not only be informative, but interactive too. Individual testing stations will be available for attendees to assess their own core power and strength.

The workshop is free and open to singers, actors and other voice professionals, as well as guests. To qualify for a free vocal screening an individual must be a vocalist/musician with at least five years professional music career history, or at least six commercially released recording credits.

In honor of World Voice Day, MusiCares will host Vanderbilt Voice Center Drs. Robert Ossoff, Gaelyn Garrett and Tom Cleveland for a special presentation on taking care of your voice. This event will be located at the MusiCares office in Nashville. Free video stroboscopic screenings of your vocal folds will be available immediately following the presentation at 4:00 p.m. Don’t miss this chance to get good voice advice and see your own vocal folds. In celebration of World Voice Day on April 19, the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary Voice and Swallowing Institute and MusiCares are co-sponsoring free voice screenings for professional singers. An individualized, comprehensive physical examination and videostroboscopy to diagnose vocal problems and assess injury risk will be conducted and practical tips for maintaining optimal vocal health will be shared.

Medical tests and services will be provided by Michael Pitman, MD, internationally recognized expert in care of the professional voice, voice conservation and restoration; and Amy L. Cooper, MS, CCC-SLP, speech language pathologist and singing voice specialist; and MusiCares.
