Join MusiCares for a closer look at the subject of emotional sobriety. Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob left three legacies for those in recovery:

1. The 12 Steps

2. The 12 Traditions

3. The General Service Office

Emotional sobriety is Bill Wilson's fourth legacy. Drawing on his training as a psychologist and over 42 years of personal recovery, Dr. Berger will unpack the letter that Bill Wilson wrote in 1956 which was actually published in the Grapevine in 1958 as "Emotional Sobriety: The Next Frontier." This is discussion is very important for those interested in growing in recovery, and becoming more emotionally mature and responsible.

Dr. Allen Berger is an international authority on the science of recovery and the author of the popular recovery mainstay, 12 Stupid Things that Mess Up Recovery. Dr. Berger's own personal journey in recovery began shortly after he returned from Vietnam in 1971. He is best known for his work on emotional sobriety and his work on integrating modern psychotherapy with the 12 Steps. Dr. Berger's latest book, 12 Hidden Rewards of Making Amends, was just recently released and published by Hazelden.
