Seton Breast Cancer Screening Team, the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), and MusiCares have partnered to provide free mammogram screenings in Austin, Texas, on July 31. If you are over 40, uninsured and low income, please read the criteria below to see if you qualify for this life saving program!

Women screened by this program must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be 40 years or older
  • No insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, Map (Exceptions will be made for women who are low income and insured with a very high deductible)
  • Must be low income
  • No previous mammogram within the past year
  • No history of breast cancer

MusiCares, Smile Programs, St. Bernadette Community Clinic, and the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation are proud to partner to provide a free dental clinic offering dental screenings, teeth cleaning, and x-rays to uninsured music professionals in need. 
 
These treatments will be provided free of charge to pre-screened pre-approved applicants on a first come-first served basis.  Those wishing to take advantage of this service must be able to provide documentation of their work in the music industry for at least 5 years.  If professional music industry experience is less than 5 years, eligibility can also be determined through credited contribution to at least 6 commercially released recordings or videos (singles).

This presentation will provide an overview for developing skills and tools for moving through distressing and overwhelming emotions. With an emphasis on creative personalities, participants will learn basic mindfulness, self-care and resiliency skills.

Facilitators Cristien and Jed bring extensive experience in community mental health, anti-oppression and anti-violence work rooted in understanding how violence, trauma, abuse and secondary trauma influence the structures of our relationships, our organizations and our progressive movements.
