On Tuesday, Jan. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m., MusiCares presented the workshop "Financial Management For Musicians," led by Susan Lee, Certified Financial Planner, tax consultant and host/producer of the NY-area radio show "Your Money And Your Life." Lee specializes in financial planning and tax consulting for freelancers, musicians, writers and other self-employed creative individuals. Her enlightening presentation set the tone for an evening that was filled with relevant and useful information and a lively, to-the-point discussion. The workshop was held in The Academy's New York Chapter's office, located 156 W. 56th St. on the 17th floor.

Livewire Recordings and Seattle's Emerald City Musician's Network are hosting Sleepless In Seattle: The Birth Of Grunge Benefit Concert in Seattle on April 14th at the Premiere Theater. Proceeds will benefit the MusiCares MAP Fund and Layne Staley Memorial Fund to assist musicians in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, both locally and nationally.

The lineup consists of bands that were instrumental in putting grunge music on the map and include Hippie Glitz (former members of Malfunkshun), Plaster (former members of Coffin Break), RiverRed (former members of Gruntruck), and Supersuckers. The D.C. Chapter and MusiCares will continue their collaborative series with an educational vocal health seminar. Featuring Dr. Susan Miller and other vocal health experts, the seminar will provide advice and instruction on how to maximize vocal potential while minimizing vocal damage. Exploring the importance of understanding one's voice as an instrument, and its continued maintenance, this interactive session will provide attendees with practical applications and specific exercises and techniques for optimum vocal health.

Join us for a panel discussion about Hepatitis C followed by free testing and information provided by MusiCares and Hepatitis C Awareness Inc. at The Recording Academy.

The panel will feature medical experts and individuals with experience in treating, educating and living with Hepatitis C. Following the panel guests are encouraged to learn more about specific topics and services related to Hep C. Attendees may take advantage of free and confidential Hep C testing. Information on treatment options, nutrition and health coverage will be available. Whether you have, suspect you may have, or know someone living with Hepatitis C, this event is a must. Marty Stuart, in conjunction with the CMA Music Festival, will host the fifth annual Late Night Jam at the Ryman Auditorium on June 7. Performers include Marty Stuart And His Fabulous Superlatives, Connie Smith, Travis Tritt, Kathy Mattea, Jim Brock, Don Chambers And GOAT, John Stone, the Legendary Shack Shaker and Fairfield Four. Past performers include Montgomery Gentry, Kentucky Headhunters, Wynonna, Keith Urban, Jerry Lee Lewis and Earl Scruggs.

Marty Stuart, the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Buddy Lee Attractions Inc. have generously donated more than $50,000 in proceeds from this event to MusiCares over the past four years.
