Katie is the lead singer of the band MUNA. MUNA has released two albums “About u” and “Saves The World” to mass critical acclaim. They made a number of Year-End Best Of lists including NPR’s “100 Best Songs” which stated, “the band created a musical safe space and an anthem for otherness, letting its joy speak as loudly as its defiance.”

SHAMIR
Shamir is a Philadelphia based singer, songwriter, and label owner who's been working in the music industry as an artist and behind the scenes since he was a teen.

Join MusiCares and Dr. Megan Galaske on June 15th for a Reiki workshop and clinic. Megan will introduce us to Reiki as an another modality of healing and offer Reiki with a guided meditation to those who wish to participate. Come learn about energy healing with us in this safe space! Open to music industry professionals.

About Megan:

Dr. Megan Galaske holds a Bachelor of Science in human physiology, a Medical Doctorate, and is a Reiki Level II practitioner. Her training in palliative care included her first introduction to energy healing modalities, which she began pursuing during her residency training. She practiced general pediatrics for 4 years and now practices energy healing, coaching, and integrates some Western medicine as well*. She resides outside Nashville with her partner Nathan and their children. They are strong advocates for neurodiversity in children and adults. Dr. Galaske does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of her activities or operations. She believes the collective benefits from sharing each other’s experiences and stories and that this fosters mutual respect and appreciation of divergent views.

MusiCares will be offering complimentary dental appointments to music professionals in Chicago, IL on Wednesday, June 16th.  Services will be provided by William H. Born DDS, Inc. and will include a teeth cleaning and dental treatment planning.  MusiCares will cover the cost of the preventive dental care services to those who are eliglble.*

ELIGIBILITY - THOSE WHO HAVE AT LEAST 5 YEARS OF PAID MUSIC EXPERIENCE *

Appointments are limited and scheduled on a first-come-first-served basis.

Registrants will be asked to complete forms at the dental office on the day of the clinic.

Those who register for and attend an appointment agree to the general agreement/release of liability waiver included below.

MEET THE PANEL:

Dr. Lexx Brown-James LMFT
Dr. Bown-James practices with a systemic and emotional-focused position. As a best selling author, keynote speaker, curriculum designer and grand rounds lecturer, Dr. Borwn-James aims to deliver sex positive, comprehensive, gender expansive, adipositive, culturally diverse, queer and trans inclusive, medically accurate, shame free sex education.

Adrienne N. Williams LCSW
Adrienne aims to dismantle stigma and shame about mental health and sex in our society in her practice as a therapist, educator, social justice advocate, community activist, and social worker. Adrienne is a university lecturer at the Columbia University School of Social Work where she teaches Human Sexuality, Gender and Sexuality, and Racial Identity Development. She is also a doctoral candidate at Widener University in the Center for Human Sexuality Studies.

Dominique Morgan
Dominique is Executive Director of the national agency Black and Pink, and developed the SOGIE (sex, orientation, gender, identity, and expression) implementation plan for Douglas County. Dominique made history as the first Black Trans Womanto be acknowledged as one of JCI USA's Ten Outstanding Young Americans. Dominique’s first book “An Introduction to Sexuality Education: A Handbook for Youth System Facing Professionals” will be released in October.

Arnold McCuller
Arnold is a long time featured vocalist for James Taylor, Phil Collins and many other A-list musicians. Arnold toured in the musical Hair, and has had songs in feature movies including Duets, Patriot Games and The Warrior. Arnold has recorded with the quartet Revelation and as a solo artist, with albums that run the range of smooth jazz to latin-pop to blues.
