PUBLIC TICKETS

Please join the Pacific Northwest Chapter for an evening of music advocacy discussion. We will be hearing from representatives of SMASH, Artist Trust, Seattle Composers Alliance, The Residency, Totem Star, AFM/Fair Trade Music, The Vera Project, and Half Access. Together we will discuss key issues faced by local creators and hear about the efforts these organizations have been making to address them. We will also review the importance of District Advocate and how you can communicate with your local constituents. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided.

Music Business Summit programs provide professional development resources for music creators, presented by leading professionals in the field. Performers, songwriters, producers, engineers, and music makers will learn from experts how to make more money making music.

Hosted at The Uptown by the Recording Academy™ San Francisco Chapter, this Music Business Summit will explore the business of music publishing. Michael Prommer of Defend Music Publishing and Tiffany Wilson of Text Me Records will explore the value that publishers bring to a song catalog and how songs generate revenue and opportunities for artists and songwriters.

Defend Music provides worldwide rights management and creative services to a roster of visionary songwriters and catalog owners. Text Me Records is a publisher, label, and production company based out of Different Fur Studios in San Francisco.

About Michael Prommer:

Michael is the President/Founder of Defend Music Publishing. Hailing from Munich, Germany, At a young age Michael learned the ins and outs of the business of a DJ, producer and remixer while touring Germany with his brother, DJ Christian Prommer. Michael went on to study at UC Berkeley, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. After a stint as Management Consultant with Bain & Company advising Fortune 500 companies on operations and leveraged buyouts, Michael became a partner in the electronic music website xlr8r.com in 1999. In 2004, Michael founded Defend Music with the goal to provide clients with the best creative and business services. Michael and Defend’s first signing was Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, followed by The Budos Band, Menahan Street Band and Charles Bradley, kicking off the retro soul revival that continues to this day.
