Josh Ostrander, better known as the singer/songwriter Mondo Cozmo, visited the GRAMMY Museum to discuss his blossoming career, soulful sound and the hit song "Shine" from his debut album, Plastic Soul. In front of a sold-out crowd at the Clive Davis Theater, Mondo Cozmo also performed "Shine" after recalling the magical moment that resulted in the vocal track.
"When I finished 'Shine,' I knew it was special," says Mondo Cozmo. "It was a scratch vocal … I feel like something else was at work. I was very much a messenger at that moment … it was a very powerful thing."
"Shine" skyrocketed to the No. 1 spot on both AAA Radio and the Adult Alternative Song chart. This year alone, Mondo Cozmo performed with Dan Reynolds from Imagine Dragons, opened for Muse and hit the stage at festivals such as Lollapalooza and the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
