Word Up From Down Under With Little Hurricane
(The Word Up From Down Under is an ongoing series featuring interviews conducted by Australian music channel Noise11 with artists while they are traveling through Australia.)
San Diego-based blues/rock duo Little Hurricane recently conducted a brief tour of Australia, including concerts at the Ding Dong Lounge in Melbourne and the Vanguard in Sydney. During their stay, Little Hurricane were interviewed by Noise11, an Australian music channel featuring breaking news, interviews, performances, and more. The duo discussed meeting on Craigslist, recording their debut album Homewrecker, having their music placed in a Taco Bell ad, and touring, among other topics.
"It's really nice to get to a new place and enjoy the culture and the food and the people and the things to do," said frontman Tone regarding touring. "When we first started [touring] our point was to really learn the town and the music. Music has a lot to do with the culture and the way people live."

Little Hurricane were formed in 2010 by drummer Celeste "CC" Spina and guitarist Anthony "Tone" Catalano after the former placed an ad on Craigslist in search of musicians to play with. The duo bonded over their mutual love for jazz and began performing around the San Diego area and were named Best New Artist at the 2010 San Diego Music Awards. Influenced by artists such as the Black Keys, the Dead Weather, Bob Dylan, B.B. King, and the White Stripes, Little Hurricane's vintage blues/rock sound is showcased on their debut album, Homewrecker. Released in the United States in May, the album features 13 tracks, including "Haunted Heart," which was featured in an episode of the TV series "Gossip Girl." When performing live, the duo stays true to their vintage vibe, dressing the stage with antique furniture, microphones, instruments, and lamps.
