What Are The Top 50 Lyric Requests For Songs On Amazon Alexa?
Life intersects with art in Amazon's The top 50 U.S. lyric requests from music fans using the smart-device request "Alexa, play the song that goes..." Perhaps unsurprisingly, "Handclap" by Fitz and the Tantrums came in at No. 1, with the most smart speaker searchers starting their requests with, "...I can make your hands clap."
Another telling example, at No. 6, is "7 Years," which drew two nominations for Lukas Graham at the 59th GRAMMY Awards. The zen-like Alexa request was completed using the sung line, "...once I was seven years old." This might seem obvious to some, but many have a hard time knowing song titles so music discovery on Alexa devices needs to be lyrically navigable.
As music continues to lead popular interests and searches online, the conversation of the moment increasingly includes talks that Alexa consumers, Siri users, and others have with their equipment. There is something beautiful about so many people singing little snippets privately while finding their new favorite songs.
