Watch TLC Perform Their Hit "Waterfalls" At the 38th GRAMMY Awards | GRAMMY Rewind
This week, let's go back to 1996; The year Adidas track pants were a must, backpack purses were everywhere, the preppy look was in and fashionable R&B group TLC took the GRAMMY stage to perform their hit "Waterfalls" at the 38th GRAMMY Awards.
Released as a part of the 1994 album Crazysexycool, the song about chasing the wrong things in life was nominated for Record Of The Year and Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. Their night didn't end with a win in those categories, but they were victorious with the coveted Best R&B Album and Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal categories.
But before the trio took home their two golden gramophones, they showed their magic on stage. TLC took command of the night with their colorful outfits and a major prop: a slide placed center stage. The fiercely poetic late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes slid down to kick-off the performance that showcased the group's natural talent and on-stage chemistry. While "Waterfalls" may have been a hit out of the 90s, it has surpassed the test of time and still moves people today.
