A classic film is set to be reborn, yet again.

Following her first headlining performance at Coachella, reports have swirled about Lady Gaga beginning to film scenes with co-star Bradley Cooper in Southern California for an impending 2018 remake of A Star Is Born. The film will not only mark Gaga's first leading role on the silver screen but the fourth overall film adaptation of the romantic drama.

The original debuted in 1937 and was followed by a 1954 remake starring GRAMMY winner Judy Garland. The 1976 version of A Star Is Born rebooted the story around the love affair of characters John Norman Howard (Kris Kristofferson), a gruff rock star past his expiration date, and Esther Hoffman (Barbra Streisand), an up-and-coming female songwriter. The film was a blockbuster, earning $80 million at the U.S. box office, as was the soundtrack, which held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for six weeks.

With Lady Gaga set to prove the film can be "ageless and evergreen" for a new generation, here is a trio of GRAMMY facts about the 1976 film's soundtrack:

The all-star A Star Is Born soundtrack features more than 10 GRAMMY winners

In addition to Streisand and Kristofferson, the A Star Is Born soundtrack is crawling with contributions from GRAMMY-winning talent, including songwriters Alan and Marilyn Bergman, Kenny Loggins, Leon Russell, Donna Weiss, and Paul Williams; arrangers Ian Freebairn-Smith and Pat Williams; engineer Tommy Vicari; trombonist James Pankow; and producer/engineer Phil Ramone.

The soundtrack netted 3 GRAMMY wins and 5 nominations

At the 20th GRAMMY Awards, the song "Love Theme From A Star Is Born (Evergreen)" earned four nominations and ultimately won three. It tied with "You Light Up My Life" for Song Of The Year honors, which went to writers Streisand and Paul Williams. Streisand won outright for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female and Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) went to Freebairn-Smith. The soundtrack was also up for Best Original Score Written For A Motion Picture Or A Television Special, which was awarded to the soundtrack for Star Wars.

Streisand's two wins marked her first GRAMMYs in 12 years

Streisand began her music career with a bang, earning consecutive GRAMMYs for 1963, 1964 and 1965. Though she received multiple nominations in the years between, she would not win her next GRAMMY until her two wins for 1977 for "Love Theme From A Star Is Born (Evergreen)."

Bonus fact: Streisand performed "Love Theme …" for a president

The legendary singer performed a medley of hits, including the effervescent love theme from A Star Is Born, at the 1993 inauguration gala for President Bill Clinton. Babs dedicated the song to the Clintons, which she described as the president's "favorite" Barbra Streisand song.

The impending release of A Star Is Born starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga has film buffs and music fans alike buzzing with anticipation. Now, the official trailer for the film has arrived, teasing Cooper and Gaga's on screen dynamic for the first time.

Cooper, who also directed the film, plays road-worn country singer Jackson Maine. He discovers an unknown singer named Ally (Gaga) as she's just about to give up on her dream of making it big as a star. The duo fall in love off-stage as Maine revives Ally's passion for the spotlight on stage, but as her career surges, their relationship can't escape the pitfalls of stardom.

The film marks Gaga's first leading role on the silver screen, and the trailer shows the GRAMMY-winning megastar in a new light. In the wake of the trailer's release, her loyal fans, the Little Monsters, took to Twitter to find inventive ways of expressing their excitement, including an elated retweet from GRAMMY nominee Katy Perry.

It’s a dream come true and an honor to be a part of this incredible movie. Bradley's ability as a director, actor and musician is astounding. It’s called “A Star Is Born,” and I’m beyond thrilled for you to meet Jack and Ally. #AStarIsBorn https://t.co/L1rIawrzJ4

The cast of Cooper's remake also features GRAMMY winner Dave Chappelle, plus seasoned actors Sam Elliott and Andrew Dice Clay. The original 1937 film starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. Two other remakes have been executed since, including the 1954 version starring GRAMMY winner Judy Garland and James Mason, and the 1976 version starring GRAMMY Winners Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. The 1976 film was a blockbuster, earning $80 million at the U.S. box office and yielding soundtrack that held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for six weeks.

Gaga and Cooper co-wrote a number of the movie's original songs, and she also worked with Lukas Nelson, and GRAMMY winners Jason Isbell, Dave Cobb and Mark Ronson to craft songs for the film. Gaga reportedly insisted that the material be recorded live on set.

The newest version of A Star Is Born hits theatres October 5.

Long before Lady Gaga stole our hearts as Ally in A Star Is Born (2018), another eternal pop queen/actor, Barbra Streisand, won over audiences—and the Recording Academy voting members—with her lead role in the 1976 film of the same name.

Today, April 24, we celebrate the Oscar- and GRAMMY-winning Funny Girl's birthday by taking a look back at her 1978 GRAMMY wins for the film's No. 1 single, "Love Theme From A Star Is Born (Evergreen)." Watch her star in the latest episode of GRAMMY Rewind below and read on to learn more about her two wins that evening for the "Shallow" of the '70s.

GRAMMY Rewind: Barbra Streisand

At the 20th GRAMMY Awards, Streisand, already a four-time GRAMMY winner, accepts her award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance to a raucous standing ovation, seeming genuinely flattered and grateful.

"Actually, I'm really surprised, I really am. It's funny, you know, I know I've won four GRAMMYs, but I didn't remember for what because it was such a long time ago," she says with her infectious smile and a shake of her head. It's just such a knockout to me to win one of these again. I really want to thank you all, thank you I love you too."

That evening, she also earned a sixth golden gramophone, as "Love Theme From A Star Is Born (Evergreen)" also won the coveted Song Of The Year award. She co-wrote the hit ballad with songwriter/composer/actor Paul Williams for the film and it's hit soundtrack. It also won Best Original Song at the 1977 Oscars, making Streisand the first woman to win an Oscar as a composer. The film also won four Golden Globes in 1977, including Best Motion Picture, Musical Or Comedy and Best Actress, Musical Or Comedy, the latter for its loveable star.

The GRAMMY-nominated A Star Is Born soundtrack was massively successful, led by the acclaim of the film and the award-winning track, coming in at No. 3 on the year-end Billboard album chart. It was only two behind timeless LPs; Fleetwood Mac's Rumours and Stevie Wonder's Songs In The Key Of Life.

To date, the Brooklyn-born vocal powerhouse has won eight GRAMMYs, plus the Recording Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995 and GRAMMY Legend Award in 1992.

She earned her first GRAMMY nominations and wins in 1964 at the 6th GRAMMY Awards, taking home two trophies (Album Of The Year and Best Female Vocal Performance) for her debut project, The Barbra Streisand Album.

Sneak Peek: Angela Aguilar ReImagines "Shallow"

The young GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY nominee has been a Gaga and A Star Is Born fan for a while now. In fact, right before the 61st GRAMMY Awards, the young ranchera singer told the Recording Academy how she hoped she'd run into the pop icon on Music's Biggest Night:

"I saw this movie called A Star Is Born where Lady Gaga performs, and that was one of the best things I've ever seen," she said at the time. "I haven't cried that much in a movie since, like, Bambi. I feel like if I see her I'm gonna kind of have like a starstruck moment. I never get starstruck  because I've been in the industry for so long, and I live in Los Angeles. It's everywhere. But with her I think I might get a little antsy."

Check out a special preview above, and be sure to catch Aguilar's full ReImagined performance on YouTube or our video page on Tuesday, July 23 at 10am PT / 1pm ET.

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, who recently won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Shallow" at the 61st GRAMMY Awards, performed a stunning, spare rendition of their ballad at the 2019 Academy Awards.

Wearing a black dress and a prominent neck jewel, Gaga played the piano while her acting counterpart sang across from her.

At the 2019 GRAMMY Awards, Gaga accepted the golden gramophone for the pair; marking her second win of the night and the first-ever win for actor Cooper. "Shallow" also won Best Song Written For Visual Media, and Gaga's "Joanne (Where Do You Think You're Goin'?)" snagged Best Pop Solo Performance.
