Route 91 Harvest Festival: 50 Dead, 400 Injured In Las Vegas Shooting
As GRAMMY nominee Jason Aldean closed out the three-day Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on the evening of Oct. 1, more than 50 people were killed and more than 400 more were injured when a gunman opened fire on concertgoers from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
According to officials, it is the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history.
A concertgoer told ABC News that the gunshots sounded "like some fireworks going off. I think there was the first kind of volley, and then all of the sudden second volley. My buddy's like, 'I just got hit, you know.' He got hit three times. Then people started diving for the ground. And it just continued."
Police found the suspect, Stephen Paddock, dead in his Mandalay Bay room. Paddock, 64, was a resident of Mesquite, a town approximately 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas. Authorities were searching his home as of Monday morning.
