RIAA: Eagles' Greatest Hits Has Outsold Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' Becoming The Best Selling Album Of All Time
The Eagles have dethroned GRAMMY-winner Michael Jackson of his best album of all-time title.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) told the Associated Press that the GRAMMY-winning band's Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 album is now certified 38x platinum, making it the best-selling album of all time. Michael Jackson's Thriller is currently second on the list at 33x platinum. According to the AP, the last time sales were tallied for the Eagles' greatest hits album was in 2006, while ales for Thriller were updated just last year.
“We are grateful for our families, our management, our crew, the people at radio and, most of all, the loyal fans who have stuck with us through the ups and downs of 46 years," Eagles founding member Don Henley said in a statement. "It’s been quite a ride.”
The band has another album on the RIAA's best-selling list – Hotel California is now the third best-selling album of all-time at 26x platinum. The album was initiated into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame in 2008.
