Pink, Christina Aguilera Sing Tracks For Female Veteran Doc
A new documentary is making the rounds and a host of your favorite GRAMMY winners and nominees are onboard to contribute to the star-studded soundtrack.
Served Like A Girl follows a group of female veterans competing in the yearly Ms. Veteran America competition, which was created to shed light on the challenges women serving in the United States armed forces face, especially after they leave the service.
Appropriately, the soundtrack for this powerful documentary comes from some of the most respected women in music. Christina Aguilera sings "America," while Gwen Stefani contributes "Medicine Man." Pink adds "Halfway Gone" to the mix, and a version of Pat Benatar's "Dancing Through The Wreckage" appears on the album. Little Mix, Chely Wright and Natasha Bedingfield have also contributed to the soundtrack.
The soundtrack will be released through GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter Linda Perry's We Are Hear label, with producer Kerry Brown. Perry co-wrote several of the songs on the album, including "Medicine Man" and "Dancing Through The Wreckage."
The set will drop Nov. 3, and a DVD/soundtrack bundle will be available Nov. 8. All proceeds from the album will benefit Final Salute, a charity supporting female veterans.
