At a time when more artists are exercising their power of social activism and more music festivals are broadening the scope of genres in their lineup, Global Citizen Festival announced a truly dynamic and impressive lineup for their Sept. 23 event in Central Park in New York.

From Stevie Wonder to Green Day, the Lumineers to the Chainsmokers, and Pharrell Williams to the Killers, Global Citizen's lineup covers a lot of musical ground, all brought together in the name of progress.

“We try to bring in artists from multiple genres," Hugh Evans, CEO and founder of Global Citizen, told Variety. "Whatever music you're into, you can come to the Global Citizen Festival and be part of it, because ultimately our hope is that the message transcends the music, that we're the generation that sees the end of poverty in our lifetime.”

The eclectic lineup for the sixth iteration of Global Citizen Festival was once again curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, and also will feature performances by Big Sean, Andra Day and Alessia Cara.

Global Citizen Festival promises to entertain, but the organization behind it has a much deeper purpose behind assembling this stellar lineup. More than 60,000 tickets to the event are expected to be given away to those who have worked with Global Citizen in support of their cause. "I think everyone’s who’s involved knows that our true north is the end of extreme poverty by 2030, and we're only going to get there if we use the immense uniting power of music to bring people together," said Evans.

If you can't make it to Central Park, the festival will be streamed via YouTube and Twitter. In the meantime, learn more about how you can help support Global Citizen.

Love experimental music? Well get ready, because the 2018 edition of the Big Ears festival will be here before we know it.

Béla Fleck Wins Best Contemporary World Music Album

Hosted in Knoxville, Tenn., the experimental music festival has announced their lineup for the weekend long celebration, which will take place March 22–25, 2018. As Rolling Stone reports, for the seventh consecutive year, the line-up relies heavily on avant-garde jazz.

This includes artists such as Medeski Martin & Wood, pianists Jason Moran and Craig Taborn, drummer Milford Graves, saxophonist Evan Parker, a performance of Alice Coltrane's "ecstatic music," Nels Cline with the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra, sax quartet Rova, trumpeter Peter Evans, violinist Jenny Scheinman, and many more.

GRAMMY nominee Anoushka Shankar will perform her work Land Of Gold, which discusses immigration. The classical music ensemble Bang On A Can will serve as the artist in residence at the festival. In addition, musicians at the intersection of experimental music and alternative rock and electronic undergrounds will perform, including Diamanda Galás, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Lightning Bolt, Kid Koala, Four Tet, Jaga Jazzist, Laural Halo, and Jenny Hval.

Your #BigEarsKnox 2018 lineup has arrived. GA, Premier & VIP weekend passes will be available Friday at 10am ET via https://t.co/I8WbBaetD0. pic.twitter.com/LPLSzooiUC

As if that isn't enough, Big Ears 2018 will feature "Appalachian Homecoming," curated by Anna Roberts-Gevalt of roots duo Anna & Elizabeth, which will celebrate the music of the American South with Béla Fleck, Jerry Douglas, Abigail Washburn, and the Black Twig Pickers, on deck to perform.

Tickets for the festival will go on sale Nov. 3 via Big Ears' website.

Green Day's career has taken them from the gritty makings of east bay punk to Broadway and beyond. On Nov. 17 a new collection called Greatest Hits: God's Favorite Band gives fans 20 of the GRAMMY-winning band's best plus two brand new songs.

ReImagined: Lindsey Stirling, "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams"

The tongue-in-cheek title of the collection is actually a reference to a skit from "Colbert" where God proclaims his love for Green Day.

One of the new songs on the album is a duet with GRAMMY-winning country star Miranda Lambert on the song '"Ordinary World." It may seem an unlikely combination, but Lambert and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong performed together at the 56th GRAMMY Awards in 2014.

The year since Grace VanderWaal won the 11th season of NBCs "America's Got Talent" has been, in the young performer’s own words, "a whirlwind."

Grace VanderWaal On Singing With Her Hero

She's sung at the opening of the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria, performed in Japan, and won both a Radio Disney Music Award for Best New Artist and a Teen Choice Award for Best New Thing.

Just last month, she was also selected for Billboard's prestigious 21 Under 21 list of "powerful young voices" who will define music's next generation, alongside names like Lorde, Camila Cabello, and Zara Larsson.  Just a few days ago, she premiered her newset single, "Escape My Mind."

VanderWaal took a few quick minutes to sit down with the Recording Academy after a stellar set before one of the largest live crowds she’s ever faced. She opened up about the transition into playing large music festivals and shows around the world, what it was like getting on stage before millions of viewers for “America’s Got Talent,” and what the most exciting moment of the past year has been.

You had a huge crowd for your set today — even people outside the stage area walking by were singing along when you played “I Don’t Know My Name” What has it been like to stand on huge festival stages and hear thousands of people singing along to these songs that you’ve written?
This was the biggest crowd that I’ve ever sung in front of, other than “AGT” or Jingle Ball. I’m always an opener or just somewhere in the show. This was my first time where it was just me, and people were coming to see me. There were a lot of people!

I’m sure the past year has been an absolutely crazy experience for you. What would you say has been your single favorite moment you’ve had since winning “America’s Got Talent”?
It’s been a whirlwind! I think either today, or finishing up the album.

Have you kept in touch with any of the other contestants from AGT?
No, I haven’t really kept in touch. You know when you’re moving away, and you’re hugging all these people, and you’re all like, “We’ll call each other every single day!”, but you always lose touch? It’s been like that, sadly.

What’s been the most unexpected aspect of tour life for you, now that you’ve started playing shows and music festivals?
I always get surprised by the people. People are always more enthusiastic than I expect. That’s always very positive.

Have you gotten to meet any of your musical heroes? If not, who’s at the top of your list that you hope to meet in the next year?
Yes! I got to meet one of my biggest idols ever. I literally have said this in every interview whenever I’ve been asked “who’s your musical idol?” or “who would you want to meet?” or “who would you want to sing with?” Jason Mraz. I have been a fan of him almost my entire life. I’ve grown up with his music, and he inspires me so, so much. And I got to sing with him before the Special Olympics. That was also a good moment since AGT — it turns into a blur sometimes, you know?

Was it more nerve-wracking stepping onto the AGT stage knowing millions of people around the country were watching, or stepping onto a festival stage, where the massive crowd is right there and you can look them in the eyes?
Honestly, it was definitely more nerve wracking going on AGT. It’s hard to think of it that way, but it’s a competition. I was doing it for the experience, but it’s so nerve wracking knowing that people are literally there to judge you. People are there to decide whether you are good or bad. Here, people are just there to dance and have fun.

Obviously one of the great parts about big festivals is getting to see some of your favorite acts while you’re on site before/after your own set. Who are you most excited to see at ACL this year?
I am going home to take a nap. (laughs) But I’m coming back later today, and I’m going to watch Chance [The Rapper]. My sister is a huge fan of him, and both of us really, really love his new album. It’s so gospel, and it really speaks to you when you listen to it. So we’re really excited to see him in person and dance to it.

As of Monday afternoon, CBS News has reported that 59 people have died and 527 have been injured as a result of the shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on the evening of Sunday, Oct. 1.

Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow has issued the following statement:

"The Recording Academy is deeply saddened by the unthinkable tragedy that occurred last night in Las Vegas. As members of the music community, we will come together as we always do in defiance of this senseless act, and provide love and support to those affected. The Recording Academy’s charity, MusiCares, will be working closely with the music industry to provide trauma counseling and support to those in need. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this harrowing time."

Additionally, executives at BMG — the label home to Jason Aldean, who was performing during the festival at the time the shooting occurred, have also issued a statement, expressing their condolences to the victims of the shootings.

"We are horrified by the events in Las Vegas overnight and relieved to report that all of our people have escaped uninjured," said BMG CEO BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch. "Too many others were not so fortunate. We send our condolences and best wishes to all of those affected by this dreadful act."

"While our artists and staff are safe, our hearts are broken for those listeners in our extended family who just wanted to share a night of great music and the camaraderie that is the hallmark of country music," said Jon Loba, executive vice president of BBR Music Group.
