Rodrigo Y Gabriela, the metal-loving duo from Mexico City inspired by both flamenco and hard rock, will release their first album in five years on April 26. They've also announced more dates to their U.S. tour launching in the spring.
The guitarists, known for their lively and passionate performances, will launch the tour in Austin on May 4, head to New York City May 18 and Nashville, Tenn. on June 2. They visit the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on July 23 and close off the tour on July 28 in Denver.
Mettavolution is the follow-up to 9 Dead Alive and was recorded with producer Dave Sardy, who has worked with OK Go, Band of Horses, Wolfmother and more. Their latest was three years in the making and "brings together Rod y Gab’s passionate interest in Buddhism, the history of human evolution and the liberation of the potential we have as a species," according to a statement.
Fans can get a taste of the new album through the lead single, title track "Mettavolution." "Metta is about making real things happen. It's not a surface level kind of change, it's about looking deeper," Rodrigo Y Gabriela tweeted.
