Logic Explains The Inspiration For 2018 GRAMMYs Speech: "We Are All Beautiful"
Backstage at the 60th GRAMMY Awards, shortly after a stunning performance of his Song Of The Year GRAMMY-nominated "1-800-372-8255" with Khalid and Best New Artist GRAMMY winner Alessia Cara, rapper/producer Logic stopped by the Recording Academy's TV/Radio room that chat a bit about his performance on the GRAMMY stage, and the poignant speech that he gave to close the song.
"It's been insane, because I never would have thought in a million years that ["1-800-273-8255"] would take me here," said Logic, fielding questions about his reaction to the massive success of the song over the past year. "I can't believe that I made a song… from a place in my heart, strictly for my fans and anybody it could reach, and the fact that it reached them, it's crazy."
In regards to his poignant speech at the close of his GRAMMY performance, Logic took a moment to reiterate his often-cited message of "peace, love and positivity," as well as to explain how the speech came about, and the motivations behind his statement.
"I was actually asked…by the Recording Academy to give a speech, …and I wanted it to come from the heart," he explained. "I have a power that a lot of people in this world don't. And I have been given a stage that the 1% get, and I thought, if I was gonna have this power, then I was gonna use it for positivity – peace love and positivity – to spread a positive message. Everybody is beautiful, and the world isn't equal, and we need to fight towards that."
