Little Richard To Reissue Debut Album, 'Here's Little Richard'
Filed under "rock and roll classics everybody should own" — or stream, if that's more your speed — you'll find 1957's Here's Little Richard. Little Richard is now set to mark the 60th anniversary of his debut album with a special deluxe edition that contains the full original album with a side of demos and alternate takes.
Ranking No. 50 on Rolling Stone's greatest albums of all-time list, the LP is a classic from top to bottom, sparked by the iconic tracks "Tutti-Frutti," "Long Tall Sally." Hits like "Jenny, Jenny" and "Slippin' And Slidin'" also showcase Little Richard's inimitable vocal wail and blueprint for combining rock and roll and R&B elements.
More than one-third of the 22 tracks found on the 60th-anniversary edition are unreleased, including early takes of "Ready Teddy," "Rip It Up" and "Slippin' And Slidin'," plus an alternate take of "Can't Believe You Wanna Leave."
Here's Little Richard was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame in 2013, marking his fifth recording to be inducted. "Tutti-Frutti" (1998) and "Long Tall Sally" (1999) were previously inducted as singles.
The new deluxe edition is due Nov. 3.
