Latin Recording Academy Announces Date For 2020 Latin GRAMMY Awards Show
The 21st Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will take place Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, the Latin Recording Academy announced today.
The show will return to Univision and air at 8 p.m. EST/PST, but the pandemic has brought some changes. This year the show will be filmed in Miami and feature performances from cities from all over the globe. Last year, the show took place in Las Vegas.
The telecasts' theme, "Music Makes Us Human," promises to bring hope and community to audiences, while at the same time carving space to celebrate Latin music.
"This year's show is a result of great music, carefully curated by almost 4,000 members, skilled staff and everyone's commitment to the Latin GRAMMY Awards' process," said President/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy Gabriel Abaroa Jr in a statement. "The evening will honor musical excellence and the power of music — an art form that allows us to show solidarity, compassion and hope, transcending language, cultural barriers and the current global challenges. We are proud to honor the work of artists who have continued to bring us excellence through their craft and joy in times of despair."
The show will follow safety protocols. If appropriate, the Latin Academy might host a live audience comprised of nominees, performers and presenters.
Jessica Rodriguez, Chief Marketing Officer and President of Entertainment of Univision, added Univision is proud to bring the show to the masses. "Music has always been a force that brings our community together and this year more than ever we are proud to celebrate the music that has inspired, uplifted and moved us," she said.
Watch the show on Univision at 8 p.m. EST/PST and tune in early for the Noche de Estrellas pre-show at 7 p.m.
