The Latin Recording Academy, Eventus and Univision have announced the schedule and talent roster for the 2009 Latin GRAMMY Street Parties. Currently in its seventh year, the Street Parties kicked off in West New York, N.J., on Sept. 27. The festivals will now continue on to Chicago on Oct. 4; Hialeah, Fla., on Oct. 11; Los Angeles on Oct. 18; Dallas on Oct. 25; and for the first time in Latin GRAMMY Street Parties history, the festival will take place Nov. 1 at the Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas, the host city of this year's Latin GRAMMY Awards.
This monthlong celebration will highlight the enthusiasm, excellence and diversity of the U.S. Hispanic communities and will culminate with the 10th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards.
"As we celebrate a decade of history, we are thrilled to continue to bring the excitement of the Latin GRAMMYs to local communities across the country and celebrate the road to Latin music's night of excellence," said Gabriel Abaroa, President of The Latin Recording Academy. "These festivals, through the power of music, allow us to create a bond between music lovers and the Latin GRAMMYs and we look forward to another successful festival season."
The Street Parties capture the excitement surrounding the Latin GRAMMY Awards by offering an interactive backdrop for attendees to experience live entertainment, sponsor display areas, and product sampling. This leading national Latin music festival series will continue to feature performances by some of Latin music's hottest artists, while serving as a launching platform for emerging talent representing various genres, including reggaetón, regional Mexican, pop, Spanish rock, and tropical, among others.
"As we head into the program's seventh consecutive year, we are extremely proud of what the Latin GRAMMY Street Parties represent to the Hispanic communities across the country. As the premiere national Hispanic music series, reaching hundreds of thousands of Latinos across the country through an essential part of our culture — music — the Latin GRAMMY Street Parties continue to provide participants, artists, consumers and sponsors with an unparalleled entertainment experience," said Eventus President & CEO Nelson Albareda. "We congratulate The Latin Recording Academy on their 10th anniversary and we look forward to working with them, Univision and our sponsors on continuing to grow our tremendous success," he added.
The 2009 Latin GRAMMY Street Parties are presented by McDonald's.
