Houston Mayor Awards Travis Scott With A Key To The City
Shortly after his performance at the 61st GRAMMY Awards, Travis Scott is back on the road for the second leg of his Astroworld tour. On Wednesday he arrived back in his hometown of Houston, Texas, where he performed at the Toyota Center.
During his show, Houston Mayer Sylvester Turner presented the "SICKO MODE" rapper with a key to the city of Houston, saying, "We owe so much to this guy for keeping Houston on the map."
And that wasn't the only piece of good news to come out of the night: Turner announced that, "because of [Scott], we're gonna bring another amusement theme park back to the city."
That should please area residents, especially those missing the now-defunct Houston amusement park Six Flags Astroworld (commonly referred to as just "Astroworld"), which closed in 2005. Scott's tour, Astroworld: Wish You Were Here, is an homage to the park.
Billboard points out that Scott originally rapped about his childhood park on Astroworld opening track "Stargazing," which said, "'99, took AstroWorld, it had to relocate / Told the dogs I'd bring it back, it was a seal of faith."
