FYI/TMI: Gotye Tops Spotify Most Popular Tracks, Skrillex's Video Game Quest
(In an effort to keep you fully informed, and fully entertained, below we present today's FYI and TMI — news you need and news that's, well, sometimes needless….)
Gotye Earns Most-Streamed Track Of 2012
Australian singer/songwriter Gotye's No. 1 hit "Somebody That I Used To Know" featuring Kimbra was Spotify's most-streamed track globally in 2012, edging Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" and Fun.'s "We Are Young." David Guetta was named the most-streamed male artist and his Nothing But The Beat was the most-streamed album of 2012. Rihanna was the most-streamed female artist and Coldplay was the most-streamed band.
Skrillex's Video Game Quest
When he's not fighting off scary monsters and nice sprites, Skrillex is saving princesses in the video game world. The GRAMMY-winning dance/electronica artist has contributed his name and music to a new online computer game titled "Skrillex Quest," which transports players to a magical world where they are tasked with saving the Dead Princess Keys. Video game developer Jason Oda was commissioned to create the game for Skrillex. "Skrillex's music sometimes sounds like a broken video game," he told Mashable. "It fit perfectly with my glitch idea." Hopefully Skrillex's video game life contains less glitches than his love life.
