Bertelsmann Acquires All Of BMG
German media group Bertelsmann has acquired the 51 percent of BMG Rights Management not already under its control, according to Billboard.biz. While terms of the agreement were not disclosed, Bertelsmann reportedly paid Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. $390 million for full ownership of the company, whose catalog includes songs by GRAMMY winners Johnny Cash, Duran Duran, Bruno Mars, and will.i.am, among others.
Bono: "I'm A Jumped-Up Jesus"
U2 frontman Bono described himself as an "Insufferable jumped-up Jesus," during a speech about world poverty at the TED 2013 conference in Long Beach, Calif. The MusiCares Foundation's 2003 Person of the Year says he hopes to end world poverty by 2030, which he described as being "only three Rolling Stones farewell concerts away." Because being Jesus isn't enough, Bono also staked his claim as a nerd. "I have truly embraced my inner nerd. Exit the rock star. Enter the evidence-based activist. The factivist," he said.
