Floyd Parton, Country Songwriter And Brother Of Dolly Parton, Dies At 61
The younger brother of country icon Dolly Parton and a country music songwriter himself, Floyd Parton died at 61 on Dec. 6, 2018. His work includes the ballad of steadfastness, "Rockin' Years," recorded by Dolly Parton and Ricky Van Shelton in 1991. Parton and Shelton were nominated for Best Country Vocal Collaboration for their performance of the song at the 34th GRAMMY Awards.
Living in Sevierville, Tenn., Floyd was known for his many talents. In addition to his songwriting he was an outdoorsman, nature lover and great cook. He is survived by his many siblings and their families. Billboard reports the family already held a private service in his memory. His cause of death has not been commented on.
His passing was confirmed by an obituary at Atchley Funeral Home where condolences can be left online. Those wishing to make donations in his memory are directed to give to the My People Senior Activity Center at 1220 W. Main Street, Sevierville, TN 37862.
