Fantastic Negrito Wins Best Contemporary Blues Album For "Please Don't Be Dead' | 2019 GRAMMYs
Fantastic Negrito won Best Contemporary Blues Album for Please Don't Be Dead at the 61st GRAMMY Awards.
"I want to thank the Academy for recognizing a complete freak and weirdo that makes his albums in an art gallery 'cause I Iike the vibe," Negrito said during his acceptance speech wearing a bright red suit and a mohawk. "I want to thank all the fans, the supporters, I'm nothing without you. Negrito nation!"
He also gave a shout out to the town he grew up in, "I would like to thank the city of Oakland, the Bay Area," he said.
Here In Babylon by Teresa James And The Rhythm Tramps, Cry No More by Danielle Nicole, Out Of The Blues by Boz Scaggs and Victor Wainwright And The Train by Victor Wainwright And The Train were other nominees in the category.
