Entertainment Law Initiative Luncheon Set For Feb. 8
The GRAMMY Foundation announced today that the keynote discussion at the 15th Annual Entertainment Law Initiative Luncheon & Scholarship Presentation will feature Tom Brokaw, special correspondent, NBC News; Ron Conway, special advisor to venture funding firm SV Angel; and moderator Andie Simon, interactive content consultant. The event will take place on Feb. 8 at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., during GRAMMY Week.
Chuck Ortner, a partner in the litigation department at Proskauer Rose LLP and National Legal Counsel to The Recording Academy, will be the recipient of the 2013 Service Award, an honor awarded to an attorney who has demonstrated a commitment to advancing and supporting the music community through service. Past honorees include John Branca, David Braun, Jay L. Cooper, John T. Frankenheimer, Joel A. Katz, Paul G. Marshall, and Al Schlesinger.
At the luncheon, a cash scholarship of $5,000 will be awarded to the author of the winning paper of the Entertainment Law Initiative Writing Competition, and $1,500 will be awarded to each of the four runners-up. Additionally, all ELI finalists will receive airfare, hotel accommodations, and a ticket to the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards, as well as invitations to other GRAMMY Week activities.
The 15th Annual Entertainment Law Initiative Luncheon & Scholarship Presentation is one of the prestigious events held during GRAMMY Week. Established in 1998 to recognize and further the connection between the legal profession and the recording community, the ELI program seeks to address legal issues confronting the music industry.
The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards will take place live on Sunday, Feb. 10 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on the CBS Television Network from 8–11:30 p.m. (ET/PT). The show also will be supported on radio worldwide via Dial Global, and covered online at GRAMMY.com and CBS.com, and on YouTube.
