Dreamville's Lute Drops New Single And Video, "GED (Gettin Every Dolla)"
Charlotte-born rapper and J. Cole's Dreamville signee Lute just released his newest single, "GED (Getting Every Dolla)." The track is accompanied with a Neal-Farmer directed music video, which sees Lute celebrating triumph as his flashy alter-ego Gold Mouf, throughout several time periods of American history.
As fans have spent the last few weeks trying to decipher the meaning behind a series of "GED" promotional teaser commercials rolled out by Dreamville, the release marks the long-awaited return for the GRAMMY-nominated rapper as his first release since his 2017 album, West 1996 pt. 2.
Lute was featured on the critically acclaimed Dreamville compilation album Revenge of the Dreamers III, which saw GRAMMY nominations for Best Rap Album of the year, in addition to tracks "Down Bad" and "Middle Child" earning bids for Best Rap Performance, respectively.
Between tracks like "Still Slummin'," "Morning Shift" and the J. Cole- and DaBaby-accompanied "Under The Sun," Lute has garnered respect for his sharp flows, vulnerable lyricism and easy delivery, none of which fall short on "GED." He closes his verse on the song by stating simple advice that he has clearly fared him well in developing into the artist and rapper that he is now: "Don’t be mad bruh, just be yourself."
