Damon Albarn Announces New Orchestral Project & 2020 European Tour
GRAMMY-winning Brit-rock leader Damon Albarn, a founding member of Blur and Gorillaz, is taking his latest project, inspired by Iceland's natural landscapes, across Europe with a tour beginning in May 2020.
The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows, named after a line in John Clare's "Love and Memory" poem, is a "very personal piece" Albarn will perform with an "ensemble of orchestra instrumentation, electronics, vocals and piano," a statement says.
The tour will launch in Brussels, Belgium on May 17, head to Paris, London, Budapest, Hungary and other cities before its last date in Dublin on June 1.
Albarn has been a visitor to Iceland for roughly three decades. "Iceland is a unique country, filled with an abundance of natural beauty; glaciers, volcanoes, thermal springs, mountains and stunning headlands. Stretching across two continents; it’s a land where North America and Eurasian tectonic plates meet," the statement continues.
