Chick Corea Wins Best Improvised Jazz Solo & Best Jazz Instrumental Album | 2021 GRAMMY Awards Show
Over his six-decade career, Chick Corea won a remarkable 23 GRAMMY Awards and was nominated for 67. Sadly, the jazz keyboard pioneer passed away of cancer last February at 79, but his GRAMMY legacy isn't over yet.
Corea posthumously won GRAMMYs for Best Improvised Jazz Solo—for his performance on "All Blues" from Trilogy 2, with bassist Christian McBride and drummer Brian Blade—and Best Jazz Instrumental Album for Trilogy 2 itself.
His widow, Gayle Moran, accepted both awards with emotional speeches that referenced Martin Luther King, Jr. and L. Ron Hubbard and exhorted fans to "keep the music fires burning."
