By Sarah Mudler
After my amazing day at the 2011 Vans Warped Tour in Tinley Park, Ill., on July 9 where I had the opportunity to interview pop/punk outfit Every Avenue and dubstep DJ Big Chocolate, it was clear that I needed more. So, I jumped on a plane to Pittsburgh and joined the tour once again, this time staying in the comfort of the tour bus with Vans Warped Tour founder and creator Kevin Lyman and his amazing staff. While the rain dampened things a bit that evening, the sun was back out and blazing when we arrived in Uniondale, N.Y., the next morning.
After thoroughly covering myself with sunscreen and dropping an extra bottle of water in my bag to stay hydrated, I headed out into the crowds to catch sets by tour buzz band Bad Rabbits, fan-favorites Simple Plan, powerhouse rockers the Devil Wears Prada, and Purchase, N.Y., natives Moving Mountains. After their powerful set that afternoon and an hour in the hot sun signing autographs for adoring fans, the gentlemen of Moving Mountains and their manager, Mark Jourdian, invited me to join them for lunch. I had the pleasure of chatting with the handsome four-piece band — consisting of founding members Gregory Dunn (vocals/guitar) and Nicholas Pizzolato (drums), and Frank Graniero (guitar) and Mitchell Lee (bass) — about everything from their sophomore album Waves, released earlier this year, to how they prepare for their live set.
Be sure to check out Moving Mountains on the rest of the 2011 Vans Warped Tour.
