Behind The Board: Tracy Young Breaks Down How She Approaches A Remix
With remixes for over 100 artists and over 60 No. 1 U.S. Billboard Dance Club Chart hits, Tracy Young's illustrious career is what a whole generation of young remixers dreams are made of.
In the latest episode of Behind The Board, the Miami-based DJ traces her journey from her early days soaking up the arts scene of '80s New York City. Today, having done what she calls "every remix known to man," Young still manages to find new creative territory to explore.
Earlier this year, Young won her first career GRAMMY, taking home the coveted Best Remixed Recording for her Madonna remix, "I Rise (Tracy Young's Pride Intro Radio Remix)." Throughout her career, Young has done a total of 14 exclusive remixes for the queen of pop.
Young breaks down her approach to a remix, naming many of the core elements she navigates to relize her vision, including the business side of her craft. But in the end, it's all about that feeling
"Music is supposed to inspire," she said, "and make you feel something."
