Alt. Latino Greats Aterciopelados, Los Amigos Invisibles Announce Joint Tour
GRAMMY-nominated Colombian rock band Aterciopelados have announced that they will be hitting the road with Venezuelan GRAMMY-nominated acid jazz, disco-funk band Los Amigos Invisibles in a co-headlining spring tour across the U.S.
The Latin alternative bands will launch the 10-city tour in New York on April 21 and have stops in San Diego, Berkeley, Calif. and more before wrapping up in Atlanta on May 2.
Both bands have and continue to leave a mark on Latin rock internationally. Aterciopelados were nominated for Best Latin Rock, Urban, Or Alternative Album at the 2019 GRAMMYs for their latest release, Claroscura.
Lead singer Andrea Echeverri, who paid tribute to the GRAMMY by dressing up as the famous gramophone during the awards ceremony, said that now is the time for Spanish-language music to shine with the success of the Latin urban boom and sees that "it is an opportunity." The band are Latin GRAMMY winners and have been nominated a total of five times in the sane GRAMMY category.
Tourmates Los Amigos Invisibles are also Latin GRAMMY winners and hold five nominations for Best Latin Rock, Alternative or Urban album. Their latest release is 2017's El Paradise.
